La isla de los amores infinitos - Daína Chaviano

Las peripecias de estos personajes se irán entrelanzando a lo largo del tiempo, desde una Cuba bajo el dominio español hasta nuestros días los amores predestinados y fulminantes de ese pasado cobrarán renovada fuerza en Cecilia, atada emocionalmente a su Habana natal, pero obsesionada también por cierto enigma que intenta resolver.

La isla de los amores infinitos es una saga familiar e histórica, con muchas lecturas y un ambiente cargado de misterios. El amor y el más allá son los hilos conductores de esta novela donde los sentimientos pueden sobrevivir a la muerte.

 Al principio diferente de lo que acostumbro a leer, esta novela resultó estar llena de elementos que amo, misterios antiguos, romance, mitos y leyendas no muy distintas de las que conocemos en Panamá. 

De hecho aunque se desarrolla en Cuba principalmente, no pude evitar encontrar similitudes entre las culturas, la música y creencias. La historia mezcla elementos fantásticos con sucesos y personajes reales que me alegré mucho de reconocer gracias a la lectura y haber crecido escuchando los boleros de mi abuelo.

Quite different from im used to read, this book turned out to be full of elements that i love, ancient misteries, romance, mythology and leyends that reminded me of those we have here in Panama.  Even though this story develops in Cuba, i couldn't help to find similarities in the culture, music and faith.  The story blends fantastic elements with real characters and events i was happy i knew about thanks to reading a lot and growing up around my grandfather's boleros.
